ITANAGAR, Jul 22: A state level orientation workshop on “sensitization of schools for forming science clubs” will be held at Arunachal Science Centre, Indira Gandhi Park here on July 26 & 27. The programme is being organized by Vigyan Prasar, Departmental Science and Technology, Government of India in association with Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology.

HM cautions wrong doers
ITANAGAR: Home Minister Takar Marde has expressed serious concern over complaints against the police personnel alleging that the personnel in uniform and even in civil dress are collecting money from private trucks, buses, liquor shops and from market places too.
Terming such act as violation of service conduct rule, home minister warned that strong action will be initiated against such guilty police personnel on receipt of complaints. In this regard, soon complaint box will be put up in front of the office of home minister where citizens can drop their complaint against those erring personnel.
CCTV in market area demanded
ITANAGAR: Nirjuli Market Welfare Committee in a memorandum to Home Minister yesterday demanded installation of CCTV at market areas, setting up of three numbers of police beat houses, conversion of Nirjuli Police outpost to full fledge police station and patrolling of CRPF at Nirjuli market at evening time.

Reduce admission fee: APCF
ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh College’s Forum (APCF) in a memorandum submitted to director Arunachal Law Academy (ALA) has expressed serious concern over high admission fees charged by the institution. Drawing his attention, APCF stated that majority of Arunachalee students belong to poor family and are not able to afford the sky rocketing admission fees taken by ALA. Forum has called for minimizing fees for benefit of poor students.

Rijiju urges Centre to adopt concrete strategy
New Delhi, Jul 22 : With China issuing stapled visas to a team of karatekas from Arunachal Pradesh, India is expected to raise the contentious issue with China at the 15th round of boundary talks between special representatives of the two countries later this year.

In a fresh bid to up the ante over its territorial claims over India's northeastern state, China recently issued stapled visas, which are not accepted by India, to a team of sportspersons from Arunachal Pradesh.
The team was not allowed by immigration authorities to board a flight to Beijing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here Tuesday for not having regular visas.

Issuing stapled visas to residents of Arunachal Pradesh came as a bit of surprise to Indian officials dealing with China as Beijing earlier refused to give visas to residents of the northeasternern state they claim as South Tibet, a part of China. Beijing maintained that people from Arunachal did not require visas to travel from one part of the country (China) to another.
India had protested the practice and has asserted that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India.
The boundary talks have not made much progress despite 14 rounds between special representatives.
For at least last two years, China has reasserted its claims over Arunachal Pradesh. In 2009, it opposed a development loan by Asian Development Bank to India on grounds that a part of it was meant for the development of Arunchal Pradesh which it regards as a disputed area. Agencies
ITANAGAR: Pointing out the latest incident of stapled Chinese visa issued to Arunachalee Karate team by Chinese embassy in New Delhi, former Member of Parliament Kiren Rijiju has urged the Centre to adopt a concrete strategy so that Arunachalees don’t face humiliation again and again.
In a letter to Union External Affairs Minister S M Krishna, the MP believed that the Centre requires a shift in its strategy without compromising national interest. How long this situation will exist for the people of Arunachal Pradesh, Rijiju asked. “There is every likelihood that the border problem will continue and the Aruanchalee can never participate in any international event in China,” Rijiju said. He further said that such impediment is not only confined to normal visit to China but even the development assistance from the International Instituions are also blocked due to pressure tactics from China.
Can Govt of India afford to call off the trips of any Indian delegations to China each time an Arunachalee is given stapled visa or denied visa or can Centre find out a way to accept stapled visa by obtaining some concrete assurance from the Chinese Govt on the status of Aruanchal Pradesh while the border talks goes on? PAFs oppose arbitrary land acquisition for dam

compensation of land for project affected families as per Arunachal Pradesh Relief
and Rehabilitation Policy-
The Forum further demanded inclusion of PAF members in the draft R and R committee constituted for implementation of LADP, job opportunities and contract and supply works for the project affected families on priority basis and free 100 units power supply per month to affected families.
The memorandum requested that adequate steps should be initiated by the company to maintain the sanctity of Nimkey and Tailung which are venerated by the natives for their spiritual and cultural importance besides establishment of a technical institute for the benefit of locals.
Moreover, the Memorandum demanded transparency in DPR, dam break analysis and disaster management plan.

ITANAGAR, Jul 22: Papum Pare SP Nabam Gugte has felicitated 23 constables of different police stations in Papum Pare district for being decorated with the honoray rank of lance naik and naik in a rank ceremony held at Doimukh PS today.
The felicitation function was attended by all the police officers of the district including official staff.
While addressing the police personnel, the SP highlighted the new roles and stressed on strict maintenance of discipline.
It is worth mentioning here that 230 constables of the Arunachal Pradesh police from all over the state were decorated with the honorary rank of lance naik and naik by the office of the DGP on 8th July. P.C.Kundalia, Scientist (Retd) from Survey of India explained in depth the Cadastral survey and Field astronomy. Later, Prof. R.K Garg of IIT, Roorkee explained in details on Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.
Experts from Shotam Instruments Ltd. led by B.N. Chaubey presented GPS technology, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary control pints during Cadastral Survey, Electronic Total Station, Georeferencing etc.
The linking of Cadastral map with ROR using Bhunaksha software developed by NIC was also explained. A field level survey training in the IG Part, Itanagar using GPS/ETS and data processing was also conducted during the five day programme.
This training was organized by National Informatics Centre/NICSI and Department of Land Management, Itanagar under National Land Records Modernization Programme (NLRMP) sponsored by Ministry of Rural Development, Department of Land Resources.
DC calls for proper implementation of BRGF schemes
Daporijo, Jul 22: A meeting on Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) for Upper Subansiri district was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner cum CEO Ameya Abhayankar at the Rijo Conference Hall here today.
Addressing the meeting, Abhayankar stated that BRGF fund had been released for 2010-

Morcha alleges violation of RTI norms
ITANAGAR, Jul 22: The East Kameng unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has requested the State Information Commissioner to take action against East Kameng DC cum PIO for his alleged failure to provide details sought through RTI regarding implementation of MLA local area development fund in five assembly constituencies of the district.
The BJYM district unit president Loku Sono further alleged that the deputy director of Urban development also failed to provide complete information sought on implementation of storm water drainage scheme in Seppa. Despite SIC order, the PIO concerned did not furnish the complete information till date, he said.
Training on Tie and Dye Fabric for women
ITANAGAR, Jul 22: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Papum Pare has organized a training on Tie and dye fabric on July 20 at SVC Hall Nirjuli, under the guidance of Dr. Taba Heli (programme coordinator).
Nearly 30 women from in and around the capital participated in the training. Tadang Meena, SMS (Agronomy) highlighted the objectives of the programme and KVK activities. The major objective behind the training was to promote small scale industries for employment opportunities and to enhance the skill of women.
KVK SMS (Home Science) Dr. Kangjam Victoria Devi trained the women on tie and dye with demonstration. Tie and dye making business can be launched at home by women with only a reasonable amount of capital, she said. Alongside, other home based income generating activities like food processing and preservation, tailoring, embroidery etc were also highlighted in the programme.

Think about drainage system before renovation of road
Dear Editor,
I would like to highlight the bad condition of road connecting Police Colony and Vivek Vihar, Itanagar. In rainy season, the road turns bad to worse for the commuters and vehicle users as the drain water flows over the road with gravels and sands.
Nowadays, even the Auto-
Moreover, the students and office goers and local people are facing lot of problem as the only bridge way of Police Colony and Chandranagar, Itanagar collapsed since long.
Therefore, I request the authorities to maintain proper drainage system before taking step to renovate the road. We can't stop the rain but at least take measures to bring succor to common man.

Dear Editor,
It is sad and unfortunate that we lost human lives and properties due to landslides
and rainfalls and that too in our Capital area and to the best of my knowledge, this
is not the first time, every year it happens. Itanagar is the only city we make reference
to our friends from outside the state. Sadly the way the unscientific way of building
constructions, encroachments and without any municipal activities and lack of strict
land allotment and maintenance, the Capital city is in fact a mess. The whole of
our state lies in seismic zone-
